Letter from our Athletic Director: Future of Athletics at OHS: (Updated 10/23/20)Hello Tiger Athletes/Parents and FansAs our COVID numbers continue to improve in Butte County athletics are looking much more promising than a month or two ago. As long as they continue to improve and our county does not have any major setbacks, the Tigers should be able to compete for OHS at the start of the new year, 2021.
CIF, the Northern Section, Butte View League and Oroville High have been finalizing a 3 season sports calendar, where competition would begin after New Years and run through the end of school. This will allow our student/athletes to compete in a reduced schedule (mostly league games), in all sports.Football, Volleyball and Cross Country start competition the first week back after New Years. Those programs will start practicing in December. Cheer will do their sideline cheer during football season and transition into competitive cheer in February/March.Basketball & Soccer start competition towards the end of February. Those programs will start practicing in early February.Baseball, Softball, Wrestling, Track & Field, Swimming, boys & girls tennis and golf start competition in early April. Those programs will start practicing around the middle of March.Like always, all athletes will need to be academically eligible, with a 2.0 GPA and no more than 2 F's. The 2nd Quarter grades will be what is used to determine if your student/athlete is eligible to particpate in January athletics. Also remember that athletes will need to complete a physical and other paperwork before they may begin practicing or doing workouts. These documents are located on the Athletics page of the Oroville High School website. All completed paperwork can be turned in at our drop box, located next to the main office parking lot on Orange Ave.Tom Frazier- OHS AD
